Here's some exciting news: only about a week until Christmas!
Break has already started for me. I'm not quite sure why it's called break when I still have homework, but I'm loving the freedom from my classes nevertheless.
Jon got home from college last night (there's another shout out for you) and we're getting ready for some sunshine!
Boy oh boy am I excited!
We get to bask in God's beautiful warm weather and see our Nana and Papa, Aunt Jill, Uncle Ron, and cousins Lauren and Sara.
What could be more enjoyable!
I love the Christmas season — the music, the sweet fellowship, and the reflection of 2000 years ago (when Jesus came to earth with the purpose of saving us all).
Not only have I have been thinking about how God sent His son to give salvation to everyone (which is what Christmas is all about), but I have also been thinking about Mary. My Bible Study did a session on her and it really put things in a little different perspective. Not only was she chosen for the task of raising Jesus, she did it with a willing and obedient heart. Of course she was scared (apparently she was only about 15 or 16... eeks! That's like my age - I would be terrified), but she let God use her. And He, in turn, blessed her greatly.
She is such an example of a godly young woman and often gets overlooked in all the hustle and bustle of the season. Mary's obedient spirit allowed God to work everything out the way He wanted it. I'm sure God could have chosen a different girl for the job, but it speaks highly of Mary's character that the Lord over all the earth would choose her.
It just makes me wonder, would God choose me for something like that - could He see enough character in me the way He could with Mary?
I know God uses us each in different ways, but somehow, carrying His son just sounds like it would be an exceptionally hard task.
Anyway, that's just something I've been thinking about lately.
I'm so thankful for Christmas, and all of the people in the Bible who I'm able to learn from.
P.S. Due to Christmas and the festivities of the season, I am taking a vacation from blogging... just until after the 25th.
Merry Christmas!
