Groovy Tuesday

Here are some highlights from yesterday:

  • I went to Teenworks
  • It was a glorious day
  • The flyer that I made for Prim was a success (it doesn't look tacky).
  • I got to dissect a crayfish (it is inconceivable how much fun cutting a fish and looking inside can be... I guess I should get out more).
Katherine screamed like she was about to die in Biology class. Apparently, some fish guts squirted into her eyes and mouth.
Not to be mean spirited or anything, but I'd definitely pay good money to see that again. She screamed for a good two minutes... loudly. All the teachers came down to see what had happened (they apparently thought somebody had been hurt).

  • My conversation with Annalisa in study-hall practically made my entire year:

Christine: (insert a serious,  heart-felt, and wistfully passionate phrase)
Annalisa: *looking incredulously at me from across the table* "Do you know who you remind me of?"
Christine: *oblivious to the fact that I was starring off into space* "I remind you of someone? No, I don't have a clue who I remind you of... except for myself. *laughs*"
Annalisa: *laughs* "You remind me of Anne of Avonlea."
Christine: *jaw drops*
Gracie: "Annalisa! Do you KNOW that that is Christine's absolute favorite book/movie?"
Annalisa: "No..."
Gracie: *squealing* "Oh my goodness!"
Christine: *silently contemplating the honor which was just bestowed*
Annalisa: "Well, I can definitely tell it is your favorite..."
Christine: *sighs*

It was absolutely amazing that she said, "Anne of Avonlea"... notice how she didn't say Green Gables.  I was thrilled because I love Anne of Avonlea. I love it so much more than Anne of Green Gables.
And to think, she didn't even know. Wow. Thrilled me to the very bone.
  • I went to ballet class.
I have been dancing in a particular pair of pointe shoes for a while. Lately, my arches have been hurting a lot (an understatement of gross proportions).
Because I had heard of dancers breaking their pointe shoes, I wondered if I possibly had killed mine... or if my arches were just really weak (hoping, wishing, and praying that the latter would not be true).
When I got to ballet class, I decided to get a second opinion (my mother was the first).
Ms. Nicole (my ballet teacher) looked at my shoes for a few seconds, handed them back, and said, "Well,  you certainly broke your shank. It is a wonder you haven't broken your ankle yet."

Broke my shank? Really and truly?

At least my arch isn't weak and I didn't break my ankles. Yikes!

Oh dear...
Now, I must go to the disgruntled old lady at the dance store. She will sit down, intimidate me, and finally fit my feet with new pointe shoes.
Maybe I can make peace with her and become friends... although this is doubtful. She's usually in a bad mood.
Maybe she's sad that she cannot dance anymore. If I couldn't dance, I know I'd be sad. However, I'd at least still try and be nice to people. You know? Especially if I owned a dance store and everything...
I will go to her store. You see, she holds a strong monopoly on all the dance business because her store is the only one in the area.
I will go, if for no other reasons than to get my shoes and minister to this lady's sad life (but don't tell her I told you that).
I have hung the lifeless pointe shoes on my bed. They were my absolute favorite pair and now they will just sit there, languidly.
I'll have to write down the name of them so that I can get another pair exactly alike — soft, pretty, and peachy-pink.
The dance is coming along nicely. We still have the whole first half to learn... plus the head and arms. Oh boy, I am hopelessly incapable of multitasking — if it weren't so sad I'd probably laugh. However, my self-esteem as a dancer pretty much rides on the fact that I don't totally embarrass myself on stage (it has happened so many times I'm not sure why it would matter now). If my brain doesn't explode before or during the recital, I'll be glad.
Caitlin is such a great dancer. Plus, she actually is capable of moving her feet, arms, and head all at the same time — without even falling over. For the record, I think she is amazing.

Those were the highlights of my Tuesday, which I consider to be pretty darn groovy.

Actually, groovy means enjoyable and exciting - I just looked it up.
Well, shoot. I guess my life isn't exactly what some people would call "groovy" — but still, I guess I never said I was an exciting or enjoyable person in the first place... only, that I feel like my day was exciting and enjoyable. Oh, never mind... now my brain is having a hard time remembering the point I was trying to make with that statement...

At any rate, I will keep the title of this blog post "Groovy Tuesday" because I think it sounds nice and I like the word groovy.

You're so sweet, Caitlin. I'll have to show you my pointe shoes tomorrow night. The Lady at Bottoms Up was actually nice... it was weird.

Thanks a bunch, Mrs. Duffy!

Thanks, Steph. I love the way you write too. Actually, I was going to tell you that a couple days ago when we talked... but I forgot. We really did miss you last Tuesday.

Oh dear, that marble exercise... well, apparently it does more harm than help where ballet feet are concerned. I never did it either. She's quite the lady. ;] Where did you take dance?
Thanks for commenting!

I agree. Ballet is definitely a time consuming/painful activity... personally, I love it (but it's not for everyone).
From what I understand, you're really into soccer (everyone has their little niche); I think soccer is one of the best spectator sports.
I've enjoyed reading your posts and getting to know you through your blog lately.
Thanks for following me!
