Christine Sixteen

Not a very original title up there, but I'm a little brain dead.  And yes, I have listened to the song.

Apparently there are several songs about my name. Matthew and I spent a considerable amount of time looking for songs on itunes with my name in them. One said "Christine, a strawberry girl...," and another said, "Christine, you're the sweetest gal I know..." That was all very fabulous.
However, nothing will make up for the fact that there was a horror film made in 1983 about a possessed car named Christine (I have no desire to see that film)... Matthew had a good laugh about it.

Anyway,  I am officially sixteen (as of yesterday)

I wouldn't quite call it a Sixteen Candles experience; it was great overall.

I woke up at 6:00 on Tuesday morning (just like any other Tuesday), and got ready for TW. Forgetting the special occasion, I was startled when my dad walked over to me, kissed my head, and said "Happy 16th Birthday, Christine!"

I don't really know if it was a good day or not. When I was talking to God the night before, I asked Him to make my Tuesday different from all the others. I'm not sure if that was selfish of me, but He certainly answered my prayer.

I went to US History class first thing that morning, and I purposely did not tell anyone that it was my 16th birthday. When I got there, Mr. Mailand said we had a quiz, but decided not to give it to us. I was thrilled!

In study-hall, I took the other half of my History exam. Then, I chatted with friends and watched as the sky turned increasingly more overcast and gloomy. I said it almost looked like tornado weather. Not five minutes after I said that, it started to rain very hard, hail (the size of golfballs), thunder, and lightning. Then Mrs. Annis came into our study hall and said we had to get into the basement because there was a... tornado warning?

After we had all been squished into the TW's basement for around fifteen minutes, we went back upstairs and had our lunch.

Stephanie and Katherine were sweet enough to inform everyone that it was my birthday; everyone sang. It was very awkward. Even though they put me through all that, I still love them.

In Biology class, Mrs. Smith decided to cancel her quiz... I couldn't believe my ears.

TWO quizzes cancelled in one day?! Really? Could it get any better?

Yeah, we got to dissect a frog. That was awesome. Stephanie informed me of the awfulness to come if we were to get a female frog (because of all the eggs). I prayed really hard that we would get a male.
When I pulled it out of the bag, I was a little worried, but God took care of everything. It was a boy; we named him Mark.
Mark, well, he was missing some parts.
My theory: he donated many of his organs to other frogs who needed them.

In American Lit. and Comp. class, I had a great time discussing the literature. After class, Mrs. Annis asked me if I was turing seventeen... for a moment, I wasn't entirely sure how old I was. Talk about an out of body experience. Whew!

Then, I went home, opened birthday cards and gifts from my sweet family, and spontaneously went to a movie with my friend Tiff. That was really fun.

I didn't get my drivers license on my birthday -- I wasn't really around a whole lot.
However, I am going to schedule an appointment for my drivers test. Assuming I pass, I'll head on over to the Secretary of Sate sometime in the next few days and hopefully obtain that little piece of paper. Shoot! I'm so nervous.

I'm not a huge fan of driving (as you know), but I am excited to have a little more freedom. For example, if I need some eggs for a recipe really quickly and my parents can't go, I could just drive myself.

I am 16 years old. Where did the time go, anyway?

It probably sounds stupid and corny, but I feel like I've waited my whole life for the golden age of sixteen. It has always seemed like the unattainable age. I never really realized it would eventually happen to me. Its crazy!

People have been asking if I feel different now.
Well, I do. I feel a whole lot older and it just plain gives me the creeps.

I'm not entirely used to saying it either... I'm sixteen.
Weird.
I'll have to get used to that.

I am blessed beyond measure to have God by my side. With His help, this next year is gonna be great!

Also, this just happens to be my 100th post. What a milestone! Almost five years of posting... but please refrain from looking that far back.

Oh. my. word. I was laughing out loud at parts of this post.

"However, nothing will make up for the fact that there was a horror film made in 1983 about a possessed car named Christine (I have no desire to see that film)... Matthew had a good laugh about it."

So did I :D

hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Good times with Mark. :)

"...he donated." -Michael
