It looked fine when we left that night...
The next day, I went over to the Edwards' house to get read beforehand — that was super fun. Pumping the music, doing our hair and make-up, and getting ourselves all primped for the event. We had a grand old time.
Then, we went outside into the bitter cold for pictures (its tradition).
When we arrived early in our formal attire, some of the decorations had fallen to the ground.
We were a little distraught, but we rallied our sprits, put on some great music, and stuck them all back up again. Thinking that they would stay for the remainder of the evening, we were happy, once again, with the outcome of our decorating "skills".
When the guests started to arrive, everything was good — we played a bunch of fifties music and danced around spontaneously. Fun stuff.
However, the decorations didn't really want to stay on the walls. After the fifth time re-sticking the plastic records with scotch tape, we just let it fall down. "Oh, look! There goes another one."
Yeah, that's pretty much what everyone was saying.
Stephanie and I had a good laugh - it was the epitome of tacky (they did look cool while they were on the walls though).
We then ate our delicious gourmet pizza and soda, and won the centerpieces (a gum ball machine).
There just happened to be a centerpiece at the chaperones' table and they decided to give it away. Mrs. Braatz (she's so clever) organized a dance competition. Yes, with music, partners, and judges.
Christie Edwards was my partner... I wasn't a very good man for her, but she was a fabulous partner. Neither of us wanted the gum ball machine; at least our motives were the same.
Lets just say we had a pretty hilarious time. The dance was the Cha Cha and we laughed the whole time (I got the hiccups more than once).
If I hadn't been so slaphappy, it probably would have been quite the embarrassment.
We got 5th place (out of 9)... YEAH! (I'm tempted to think it was rigged).
After that spontaneous contest, we ate our ice cream sundaes— they were amazing.
We then got changed and went to Edru for roller-skating. FYI: that is definitely a skillful thing. I don't even want to know how many times I fell down.
Most of the girls were slipping, sliding, and just falling all over the place (we eventually got the hang of it). But I don't have any idea how the boys managed to be so good — very interesting. Almost mind boggling.
All in all, it was a great night - in my opinion, this was one of the best events Teen Works has hosted. Hands down.
Student Council: we rocked that shindig last night.
Just sayin.
