Set-Apart Femininity

This book is one of my favorites. Seriously.
Set Apart Femininity by Leslie Ludy is one of the best teen-girl devotionals I have read.
The book is all about encouraging girls to find their identity in Christ, discovering what His sacred intent for them is, and examining their hearts. It is unique in the way Leslie presents the convicting topics. And, she uses stories to make it more personable and relatable — its almost like she is sitting in a coffee shop with you.
It is broken up into several different topics (just to name a few):

  • "unlocking God's sacred call upon your life"
  • "understanding God's pattern for true femininity"
  • "captivating the heart of a Christlike guy"
  • "aligning your daily existence with God's priorities"
  • "finding real fulfillment by living a poured-out life"
With only about 219 pages, this book has such a neat way of encouraging the average girl to light her passion for God again.

As a Christian girl, I had heard most of the stuff in this little devotional before. However, God can (and did) use it for His benefit.

About a month ago I got off of Facebook.
Now, that was not an easy decision for me to make. When I was going through one of the chapters, God really spoke to me. Basically, He told me that Facebook was taking time away from Him (most importantly), my family, and my studies. But there wasn't anything wrong with Facebook, He just needed me to obey Him.
For about a month (sad but true) I struggled with this conviction. God had clearly laid it upon my heart to set myself apart, but I had already started making all sorts of excuses, like: "Facebook is such a good way to connect with friends that I otherwise wouldn't talk to"... To which He softly combatted, "if they are truly your friends, they will find a way to reach you."
I wrestled with this thought in the very back of my mind for a while.
When I was talking to my dear friend Alisha one day, I told her about my dilemma and how I thought that I just needed to take a break from Facebook. She told me that she experienced something similar and when she obeyed God fully, He rewarded her.
I thought about this for the next five hours until I got home. Running up the stares and into my room, I faced my computer and I knew what I had to do. I deactivated my account and God has rewarded me.
Oh, believe me, He has blessed me with abundance. I now have more time for God, my family, and schoolwork. To top that, I have even been reading books for fun (which I never would have dreamed of doing before because of the lack of time).
Anyway, I just wanted to say that God can use anything (even familiar topics) for good in your life. He used this book to prompt me to obey Him.
I'm not saying it will magically draw you closer to God, or promising that you'll be dramatically changed after reading it. However, I am recommending this book to any Christian girl out there. It's just a really great devotional from a different perspective.

This is what the book looks like.
