Has Spring Sprung?

I have been trying to take regular walks outside (yes, even in the snow). I have found that it is a really good time to talk to God without a lot of distractions (it also happens to relieve a load of stress).

So yesterday, on this daily walk around my neighborhood, I heard something interesting-
the twittering of birds!!

My initial thought was of springtime.
However, I remained calm and listened further to this curious sound.
Well, it sounded like spring birds... and there were two of them.
Joy filled my soul because I dearly love the sounds of nature!

When I came to my senses again, I gave up the thought of a possible early thawing... but I was still intrigued.

Why was I hearing this?
As I listened more closely, I heard a sort of conversation. It went like this:

"cheeeeeep? cheeeeeep? cheeeeeep?"

To which the other bird occasionally replied,

"tweet — tweet, tweet — tweet!"

(I have a very small amount of knowledge concerning birds. Obviously.)

Strangely enough, it reminded me of my relationship with God.
He showed me that He is like the first bird, always there, calling for me.
While I am often like the second bird, only replying sometimes.

Since the bird that I was listening to only replied when it was convenient for him, he missed out on what the other bird had to say (probably something about where to find the good worms or how to make his nest warmer or something).
But I don't want to be like that; I want to always have a ready ear for anything God has to say to me.
And to everything He tells me, I desperately want to obey.

Its like God has to play marco-polo with me... just so I can continue to follow Him (it's a ridiculous game).

It shouldn't be like that though.
Sometimes I wish that I would only ever hear God's voice — the sweetest sound in the world.

That is the very reason I love to take walks all by my self. He is the only voice I hear in those precious thirty minutes.

"May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands. " - Psalm 90:17

And, that is what God taught me on my trek around the neighborhood yesterday.

P.S. If you are ever driving around my neighborhood anytime between 2 and 4, there is a definite possibility that you'll find me; bright pink coat and all.

Steph, I'm glad we can be friends...
even though I'm a veg-head and don't recycle my gum wrappers. ;]
